K2CAN Cluster Outages

A note form Mark, K2CAN, that was posted today, 2.24.11.

Frontier has been working on moving my DSL
service from a remote CO to a closer one. The
first part of that was completed between
yesterday and today. That work has caused
intermittent outages to the servers here.

Next Wednesday they will be running an optical
line to a switch very close to my house. There
will some down time that day as well.

I apologize to everyone who uses the Cluster and
other servers for the inconvenience caused by
this change.
The up side is that the connections to the
Cluster and other servers will be much faster
and much more reliable.

73 to all,
Mark K2CAN

February Meeting

The February membership meeting promises a super program by Tony, K2NV, who travelled to PJ2T to operate one of the world’s true superstations.
Tony will recount his excellent adventure for the WNYDXA gang. Don’t miss it!

January Meeting Kudos

Wow, a triple header of activity at the January membership meeting!

DSC02416W2MFT gives “Russians” presentation. Gets mucho extra credit from the Webmaster for his MacBook Pro!

DSC02414KW2J receives the DX100 award for being the first WNYDXA member to work 100 countries in 2011. Nice!

DSC02413K2RSK presents W2YJ with the Crying Towel. No report was given as to what station YJ called for hours on end with no joy.

January Membership Meeting

The January meeting will be a fascinating presentation by WNYDXA member W2MFT. "The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming". No, that's not a flashback to the 1960's but a tag line for the January 14th WNYDXA meeting. Well, maybe the Russians themselves aren't coming, but their QSO's and QSL's are. Mark, W2MFT, will give a presentation on his experiences with the Russians including some of the certificates available and techniques for QSLing them. Come to the meeting and learn about all those prefixes and oblasts.

See you at the meeting!
