Many of our members have paved the way for those who have followed. Most grew up in the days of vacuum tubes, CW and AM. Their contributions to WNYDXA are honored here on our Silent Keys page. It is unfortunate to think that this page will be ever expanding, but so it is with life that all good things must end. If you know any club SKs who are not here, please notify the Club President.
Ray was first licensed in 1982 and up-graded to KD2GC in 1984. He was inactive from 1987 to 1999 due to family, work and Army Reserve duties. He retired from the military in 1996 with 27 years (10 1/2 years Active Duty and 17 years in Reserves.) He served in Vietnam and Desert Storm. His XYL passed away on August 31, 1999 and Ray retired from his position as a Physician Assistant/Clinical Coordinator at the V.A. Medical Center March 31,2000. He later retired in 2003 from the State University of N.Y. at Buffalo after 32 years teaching a course on Aging Physiology. Ray was elected Mayor Of Akron, N.Y.in 2001 (part-time position). Akron is a small village with a population of 3,085. He was also the President of a local Senior Citizens group and Commander of local V.F.W.Post. Ray was the president of WNYDXA from 2001-2002.
Awards: 5BDXCC; 5BWAZ; 5BWAC; WAS. Ray was super active chasing DX and operating in contests.
